This Sunday is a very special day at Parkland because we're going to hold our second Family Sunday. There are two important things you need to know about this Sunday. First, we're doing a potluck lunch. We're not going to worry about dividing up the alphabet and assigning types of dishes, because that's way too complicated. Instead, just bring something you love, and bring enough for you and a few other people. Let's do a bullet list of some important details:
The food you bring has to be fully cooked as we will not be able to cook it here. We can keep it warm (although oven space is limited), but we can't cook it.
If you bring something in a crock pot we can plug it in.
Please bring some kind of label that identifies your dish.
If your dish aligns with a given diet type (i.e., gluten-free, dairy-free, vegan, keto-friendly, etc.), make note of that on the label.
Be sure to put your name on all of your serving dishes and take them home afterwards!
Please stick around to help clean up.
Second, the kids will stay in the service (because, you know, it's called "Family Sunday" and all). Don't worry: we don't expect the kids to be absolutely silent the whole time because we want this to be a fun service. We'll have activity books for the kids during the service, and even a special kid-only seating area that they can use. The service format itself will also be kid-friendly, with more singing, less talking, and shorter segments of everything so that we're never doing the same thing for a long time. I'm looking forward to a fun Sunday with you! See you then.
